Fifty shades darker el james7/6/2023 ![]() It's all very entertaining and will surely provoke a stimulating if not educational discussion. As in all relationships it has it's ups and downs and is filled with compromises. However, the real appeal of this book is the love story between Christian and Ana. Reader beware, "Fifty Shades Darker " has strong sexual content, which involves BDSM. As the book progresses, more is revealed about Christian's childhood and the ramifications of the abuse he endured. Once again, I am enthralled with the banter between the characters as they flirt through e-mails and telephone calls. As the story continues, so does the romance between Christian and Ana as they hash out their differences about the future of their relationship. PBR Book Review: (by- Andrea ) After finishing the first book Fifty Shades of Grey, I immediately downloaded the second book, Fifty Shades Darker. ![]()

Development as freedom book7/6/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() He also addresses concerns and critiques surrounding the universal human rights discussion, including arguments about legality of human rights, duties involved in fulfilling rights, and questions about cultural relativism. Stating that development often forsakes freedoms and opportunities in the name of economic and human development, Sen argues that freedom must be central to development in order to create sustainable and effective change. He advocates for an integrated approach to development that involves multiple institutions and creates freedoms such as economic opportunities, political freedom, social supports, transparency from authorities, and security for society. Sen argues that human freedom should be both the means and the end of development, rather than a casualty of it, as is often the case. Amartya Sen is an important author, economist, and philosopher for anyone in human rights work to know, and his book Development as Freedom (1999) is a perfect example of his expertise and deep understanding of human development and the importance of human rights. ![]()

![]() ![]() It is so tempting to look for hidden "messages" in books. It reminds me of several other books that are intimate character portraits of outsiders who struggle to connect with other humans - Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, A Man Called Ove, for example - but this one is subtler and less sensationalist than either of those (don't get me wrong, I really loved both those books). Even his somewhat finicky girlfriend is growing tired of all his ways. Micah exasperates those around him, though he cannot understand their frustration with him. Everything in his house and in his life has its place and each day is part of a strict cleaning schedule. He's a self-employed techie with a business aptly called 'Tech Hermit'. It's a book about a middle-aged man called Micah Mortimer. A novella, I imagine, though I don't know the exact word count. ![]() Redhead by the Side of the Road is a little book with a lot of quiet power. Well, I don't know if it's because I'm on my way to becoming a boring old person these days, but I have been wholly charmed by both of the two Tyler books I've read as an adult. ![]() I remember rolling my eyes, along with my classmates, because we were forced to read something so insufferably boring about everyday people living their lives and interacting with each other. I remember being in my early teens in school and our English teacher making us read Anne Tyler's Digging to America. The only place I went wrong, he writes, was expecting things to be perfect. ![]()

When Sven told a story, all of the other Vikings stopped to listen.”Īt this point I thought, we were going to see a very cool story here.Įverybody loves Sven’s storytelling until suddenly preparation have to be made for the arrival of a warrior princess. Sven likes storytelling and he learns to tell stories really well. But, Penfold’s Sven is little, in fact, he is the littlest of all Vikings with the loudest cry and the fiercest set of teeth. Typically, male Vikings are tall, bearded people who draw their sword at every opportunity, if they don’t row across oceans. It started out really well but goes downhill soon. I am a bit confused with the concept of this children’s book by Alexandra Penfold. ![]()
